As a photographer, there are moments when you can clearly feel that what you have just done is at the "next level" of quality and creativity. I have had such an experience! An experience where makeup, styling, creativity, model, photographer and stylist just play MAX in the studio. Of course, I don't take credit for it all - it's TEAMWORK and I'm SO happy that I've been allowed to work with some talented people.
I was lucky enough that the beautiful May Simón Lifschitz was in my studio and that Jonas Bjørn Worup wanted to be a stylist and magician with ideas.... We brainstormed with "Hippie Boheme" and "Indian Geisha" which I thought we succeeded very well with. The fact that May is a make-up artist herself is fantastic, so hair and make-up she did all by herself.
It's always really fun brainstorming along the way – planning WHAT we're going to do on our photo shoot, only to see how it develops along the way to be something COMPLETELY different than the original idea really was. You can start with ONE idea on the mood board, and end up with something completely different - definitely just as cool, or even cooler!
Personally, I love the whole process from creative ideas to looks and expressions, choosing a model, the practical things, etc. The shoot itself with the execution of your visions of hair, makeup, lighting, poses, clothes etc. and not least the subsequent retouching on the computer, where I as a photographer must really emphasize the expression I want the individual image to have.
Below you can see the pictures I have selected from the series and then you can judge for yourself whether you thought you could recognize "hippie bohemian" and "indian geisha" in the pictures.
XOXO
