“MY AFRICA” – Fashion photoshoot in Joshua Tree, Los Angeles
The savanna is found in Los Angeles
A photoshoot is always a fluid creative process. It's really exciting... That you can have a clear idea when you start but then the shoot develops along the way to get a different vibe.
I dragged a great team out into the Joshua Tree desert in Los Angeles. A beautiful secluded house I had rented via AirBNB. NOW we had to make FASHION!! The vibe was supposed to be "fashion magazine snobbish" and I had assembled a KILLER TEAM for this task.
BITS AND BOPS…..
On the way to shooting the series, we found old vintage things in the house itself. The round drinking bottle, the oil lamps, and a lot of vintage suitcases and old keys. Now the story took a clear turn! Instead of "just" being fashion, a "Karen Blixen" vibe came across. I LOVE it. I feel thrown back in time and I LOVE how the series has turned out.
I've always known that I wanted a red-haired girl to model. The thought of the blue sky against the fiery red hair was my dream. The weather was a little teasing, but I hope you can see what I mean. I was lucky enough to Madeline Ford said YES to my idea.
Lucky me!…
I got a Hollywood stylist James Harris Jr. (How to get away with murder series etc) on board. This was despite the fact that none of them know me, from little Denmark, and that there was no salary to be had. My vision and my work on mine website, has spoken my case :-). I am truly grateful that the team believed in me and pushed through - TOGETHER
The styling/atmosphere evolves from being this "pretty girl" who is a bit lost, to being Ranch-mama who has just found her place and her STRENGTH!
The idea just came….
I got the idea for this series already last year, when I was out on another shoot and I have been buzzing with ideas ever since. It is therefore MAGICAL to see the whole series come to life and even become better than what I could imagine.
Lucy's Magazine only has a selection of a few but I love the whole series so much. I can understand now that they can't publish 32 pictures in a series 😉 It's just me who couldn't choose because they turned out so nice
The series ""MY AFRICA" photoshoot in Los Angeles" will SOON be found here: PUBLICATIONS but you just get a taste here in the article
